In regards to the status of the Intercontinental Championship, the issue has been resolved. John Morrison defeated Rey Mysterio to win the Intercontinental Championship at tonight’s SmackDown taping in Cleveland, Ohio.
The former title holder will be suspended for thirty days effective tomorrow as a result of his first violation of the company’s drug testing policy. He was originally scheduled to face Dolph Ziggler at the Breaking Point pay-per-view on the 13th.
Speaking of Ziggler, he worked a dark match prior to tonight’s taping, beating Jimmy Wang Yang. He became the number one contender for the title by winning a three-way bout on last week’s episode of Superstars. It remains unclear how it will be explained that Morrison bypassed him despite earning said shot.
