WATCH: Triple H Q&A Session Following NXT UK Takeover: Blackpool

Triple H conducted a Q&A session following the NXT UK Takeover: Blackpool event on Saturday, January 12. Hunter talked about the talent on the card raising the bar for future events in the United Kingdom.

“We just set the bar really high. I don’t look at it as one brand, the other brand, I look at putting on the event that it needs to be. Tonight, everybody here, top to bottom, start to finish, we put on an event that everybody here can be proud of.”

The Game also commented on the surprise appearance of Finn Bálor, who replaced Travis Banks against Jordan Devlin.

“Finn Bálor was here for the opening of the NXT Performance Center in the UK. I always knew Johnny Saint was a smart guy, but to come up with a Plan B, Johnny Saint’s Plan B of Finn Bálor, the man that trained Jordan Devlin, to walk down that aisle and take him on tonight? Genius.”

Of course one of the major highlights of the show was the main event. NXT UK champion Pete Dunne successfully defended his title against Joe Coffey in a match that fans won’t soon forget. This one had it all and The Game was definitely impressed by what he saw.

“It was like watching a boxing match happen inside of a car crash. It was brutal, it was aggressive, it was the fight you expected it to be and yet Pete Dunne still walks out, over 600 days now, NXT UK champion. And it hasn’t been easy. He has faced them all. He has gone through them all, he has proven without a shadow of a doubt. I stood in that hallway two years ago and I looked him in the eye and I said make a name for yourself, kid. D****t if he hasn’t.”

This is the first Takeover event ever held in the UK, but it certainly won’t be the last. As WWE continues with its global expansion. the focus will probably continue to be on the overseas product and the NXT UK brand is surely no exception.
