Lens have this evening announced the signing of midfielder Alexis Claude-Maurice from Nice, with the 24-year-old joining the Artois club on a loan deal which does not include an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.

The former French youth international has been with Les Aiglons since 2019 and has made 75 appearances for the club, but was hampered by injuries last season which limited him to just 10 league games over the course of a testing campaign.

He remains under contract for another two years, and has scored seven goals and registered nine assists during his time in the French Riviera so far.

Claude-Maurice will ostensibly replace Gaël Kakuta, who is set to leave the Sang et Or before the end of the transfer window. He will once again be working under Franck Haise, who managed him in the Lorient reserve team and was then his assistant manager for the senior side.
