The Wallaroos are taking inspiration from their first-half heroics against the Black Ferns as they size up a daunting England challenge, eager to cause a major upset.Jay Tregonning’s side enters the quarter-final clash as significant underdogs, with the world number one England looking for their 29th win in a row.Meanwhile, Saturday’s 13-7 victory over Wales was the first time the Wallaroos have recorded back-to-back victories since 2019.However, assistant coach Sione Fukofaka was quick to recognise the parallels with their opening match, written off before silencing a record Eden Park crowd as they raced out to a 17-0 lead.“It’s a massive privilege to come up against a team of that quality,” he told Rugby.com.au.“We don’t get to play England very often so embracing that opportunity is a big part of this week.“We talked about it against New Zealand, the pressure is all on the other team so we can play with a  bit of freedom and hopefully start the game in a similar fashion.“We’ve always felt if we can play to our strengths, we can give ourselves an opportunity and the more games we play against quality opposition the more we are improving. There are still some areas we want to get better at, set piece is a big aspect of improvement but also that in-22 conversion rate that we’ll focus on.“Having the opportunity to play England who have the 28-game win streak in a quarter-final is a massive occasion and you saw in the opening game the girls relish those opportunities.”The Wallaroos made the trip down to Auckland on Monday, leaving their quiet Whangarei base as they relish the benefits of ‘earning’ an eight-day rest. They understand the enormity of the task, with England’s odds so short with bookmakers that some aren't accepting bets on them to win. However, there’s a growing belief they are still yet to deliver their best performance of the tournament, embracing the underdog mentality.“We’re feeling confident. We’re excited to build into the week and prepare for England,” scrum half Iliseva Batibasaga said. “We’re going to test ourselves and we’re relishing having this extra time together as a team.“We are pumped to give it to the Red Roses and everyone loves an underdog back in Australia so this one is for you guys. "We’re taking it back to the first week when we came up against New Zealand, it’s whatever it takes. We’re the giant slayers so hopefully, we can maintain that."“It’s exciting that we’re building each week and we’re continuing to get better, we’re seeing in review we’re leaving so many opportunities out there so hopefully we have a good prep and show them what the Aussies are made of,” lock Kaitlan Leaney added. The Wallaroos confirmed Melbourne Rebels backrower Mel Kawa will join the squad, replacing Atasi Lafai after scans confirmed the lock had suffered a broken leg.Click Here: Trent Alexander-Arnold Jersey Sale
