L’Équipe report this morning that 20-year-old Portuguese attacker Rafael Leão is set to leave Ligue 1 side Lille this summer.

Les Dogues have received bids from Valencia, Everton and Napoli, as well as potentially Aston Villa, for a player they signed on a free transfer last summer.

The bids are understood to be €35m + €5m in bonuses, €37.5m and €32.5m + a 10% sell-on fee percentage clause respectively, with Villa’s offer currently unclear.

The Ligue 1 club have tried to convince the player to stay, with Champions’ League football in the offing, but the player will be able to earn a salary three times the size of his current packet with Les Dogues at any one of these sides.

It would seem like the right time for Lille to put their foot down and stop the talent drain from their squad this summer, by LOSC have been clear that they do intend to keep players that do not want to be there. Jonathan Ikoné, Jonathan Bamba & Luiz Araujo have all received approaches and all told Lille they want to stay.

Leão’s entourage believe its time to go to another stage, though. This situation is why Lille have moved aggressively to sign Victor Osimhen in the last hours, with Belgian outlet DH claiming that LOSC have had a €15m offer accepted by Charleroi for the Nigerian forward.
