The supreme court has reprimanded the authorities several times, the CAG recently said that only one per cent of Ganga cleaning has taken place in the last four years, and of course the environmentalists have said it several times over the years. Ganga is unclean, let’s face it.
Now, the National Green Tribunal has said the water of the Ganga, between Haridwar and Unnao in UP, was unfit for drinking and bathing and expressed anguish over the situation. It said that innocent people drank and bathed in the river with reverence, without knowing that it may adversely affect their health.
