As reported by L’Équipe, the LFP have implemented a new health protocol for French league games. With the testing regime scaled since the start of the pandemic at French clubs, it’s to be ramped up again after swathes of positive cases as several Ligue 1 clubs. Most notably, Bordeaux were missing 21 first-team players for their cup match with Brest at the weekend.

Now, all Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 players must be tested 48 hours before their next game, whether they’ve been vaccinated or not. In addition, a player’s isolation period will rise from seven to ten days if that player who tested positive is unvaccinated. If a player tests negative after five days, he will be allowed to return to training.

A decision will be made soon on how to handle the testing of officials and staff.
