Following a momentous 30-29 victory over England in their Autumn Nations Series Test at Twickenham on Sunday, here are the player ratings for Argentina.

15 Juan Cruz Mallia: Pretty solid at the back but no impact with ball in hand. 6

14 Mateo Carreras: Has lit up the Premiership but didn’t get any ball at Twickenham. Was manful against the gargantuan Joe Cokanasiga, 6

13 Matias Moroni: Another defensive masterclass from the outside centre. Reads the game brilliantly. 7

12 Jeronimo de la Fuente: Made his tackles but not much else. 6

11 Emiliano Boffelli: Almost perfection from the wing, who scored 25 of Argentina’s 30 points. Just one miss off the tee in another wonderful performance. 9

10 Santiago Carreras: Fly-half isn’t really his position but putting him closer to the action means Carreras can make things happen. His wonderful run and pass sent Boffelli over and he also pounced on Owen Farrell’s mistake to score Argentina’s second. 7

9 Gonzalo Bertranou: Kicking was mixed – some too far and others absolutely pinpoint – but he was gallant in defence. 6

Forwards tireless throughout

8 Pablo Matera: Argentina’s best carrier and good in defence. 7

7 Marcos Kremer: Another outstanding effort. Needs to cut out the constant baiting of opponents as it opened the gap for Van Poortvliet’s try, but Kremer was otherwise excellent. 8

6 Juan Martín González: Worked hard around the field and is a useful lineout option but didn’t get any ball to show his athletic talents. 6

5 Tomás Lavanini: Has had a good 2022 and produced another superb effort against England. 7

4 Matías Alemanno: Solid as always. Good in the set-piece as the Red Rose got very little traction up front. 6

3 Francisco Gómez Kodela: Got lucky with some scrum penalties as Ellis Genge was generally on top. 5

2 Julián Montoya (c): There’s some great competition in the position but Montoya is probably the best hooker in the world at the moment. Showed why at Twickenham. 8

1 Thomas Gallo: A couple of excellent shoves put Kyle Sinckler under pressure while he also worked hard in the loose. 7

Replacements: The reserve props got on top in the set-piece and Facundo Isa put in a big shift when he came on. 7
