Speaking in an interview with BeIN Sports FR, Head of Development at FIFA, Arsène Wenger, showed concern for the future of French football.

“French clubs are falling little by little into the hands of people who are not true builders of clubs’ future, but more investors who want to earn money with clubs very quickly. We can see today in France that there are lots of problems on that level. The fans feel that their main aim is not to build a great team, but to make a profit.”

“We maybe need to create an ethics commission to examine potential buyers of clubs to see what the real intentions of the people who are buying our clubs are. We cannot dilapidate footballing culture in a country just for the sake of finances.”
