Nearly five months after 13 people were killed when police opened fire against locals protesting against the Sterlite Copper Plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a new case of criminal conspiracy, robbery and dacoity against police and revenue department officials.

The FIR, the second in the case was filed after the Madurai bench of the Madras high court in August asked CBI to probe the incident.
