According to our colleagues at RMC, Marseille President Vincent Labrune has asked club owner Margarita Louis Dreyfus to fire current manager Michel with immediate effect.
The mother of newborn twins has come under increasing pressure from Marseille fans in recent months for failing to provide the necessary finances in order to allow the club to reach its objectives.
Louis Dreyfus is actively looking to sell the club, but first she must attend to more immediate matters, namely the future of current manager Michel.
Labrune spoke with Louis Dreyfus last week about the Spaniard’s situation, with OM lying shockingly in the second half of the Ligue 1 table as the current campaign comes close to reaching a conclusion.
During this discussion, Labrune is understood to have apologised to the club owner for what he sees as a mistake in terms of appointing Michel in the first place and has asked her to immediately dismiss the Spaniard so that the club can already begin to prepare for next season.
That decision is now in the owner’s hands.
There are however other matters to address when considering Marseille’s current state of crisis, the situation of club ownership.

Should Louis Dreyfus decide to keep Michel on, it is likely to mean this. She is ready to sell the club already this summer and does not want to hurt club cash flow and assets, therefore not firing Michel which could cost up to 2 million Euros.
If she does sack Michel, then it suggests that a club sale is further away from any completion, as she jostles in order to win back some popularity from the Marseille fan base who desperately want the departure of the former Olympiakos boss. The decision vis-a-vis the possible sacking of Michel could therefore be highly symbolic for the future of Marseille.
