Montpellier have today confirmed the signing of the Serbian striker Petar Škuletić on an undisclosed fee from Turkish side Genclercbirligi.

The 6 ft 4 in forward moves to the Stade de la Mosson after one season in the Turkish Super Lig, where he scored 8 goals in 27 appearances.

Manager Michel Der Zakarian will be hoping that the signing of Škuletić will improve Montpellier’s goals scored in the future, with only Caen, Troyes and Metz having notched fewer goals last season, despite finishing 10th in the final league table.

The 27-year-old expressed his happiness in securing the move: “It is a great challenge for me to join MHSC…I will certainly give everything on the pitch and I really hope to make a big contribution to the team and give back the confidence that the club gave me by bringing me here.”

Škuletić has been capped by his native Serbia 6 times and has also enjoyed spells at FK Partizan and Lokomotiv Moscow.
