According to RMC Sport, Marseille president Pablo Longoria has recently travelled to London and, while the purpose of his trip is unknown for sure, his visit may be linked to the ongoing negotiations for Arsenal left-back Nuno Tavares (22), with Longoria having made his signature a priority this summer.
Towards the end of last month, France’s only Champions League winners submitted a loan offer to the London side for the 22-year-old, to which Arsenal reportedly gave no immediate response. This is particularly the result of new manager Igor Tudor’s tactical plan going into the new season, in which the Mediterranean side will once again compete in the Champions League.
Relations between the two clubs and their managements have historically been excellent, as shown by the previous dealings over for Sead Kolašinac, William Saliba and Mattéo Guendouzi. With Tavares having joined the Gunners from Benfica for a fee of €8m last summer, the U21 international featured 22 times in the Premier League. Nonetheless, Arsenal are reportedly open to letting the young player leave the club on loan.
