L’Équipe report that a local decree released today has ruled that Paris Saint-Germain fans will be barred from attending their away fixture against Saint-Étienne on November 28.

With two of the home fans’ stands also set to be empty following sanctions for fan trouble in the build-up to last month’s draw against Angers, the Geoffroy-Guichard will be at a much-reduced capacity.

The statement justifying the ban on away fans from the stadium explains that the measures are aiming to reduce the risk of trouble to public order, after incidents took place in 2015 and in 2019. It adds that these events are based on the “strong rivalry between Paris and Saint-Étienne supporters, which contradicts any spirit of sportsmanship”.
