As noted, Bobby Fish underwent successful ACL surgery yesterday and will reportedly be out of action for up to six months.
The Undisputed Era is set to defend the NXT Tag Titles at NXT Takeover New Orleans, and while PWInsider.com reports the initial plan was to strip Undisputed Era of the titles following Fish’s injury, that does not appear to be the case. NXT taped TV this past Wednesday night, and all indications are that Undisputed Era will still defend the Tag Titles, with Adam Cole replacing Bobby Fish in the match, at Takeover.
Backstage News On NXT Talent Releases
We noted yesterday that three NXT talents, including Sage Beckett and Abbey Laith, have been released by WWE. According to PWInsider.com, the talents being cut was more a case of WWE parting ways with talent not being used as opposed to any kind of heat or incident involving the talents. Both Beckett and Laith competed in the Mae Young Classic last year but were rarely used on TV after the Classic.
We also reported yesterday that a third NXT talent, Gu Guangming, one of the Chinese recruits signed in 2016 that worked under the name Ming, has also been released.
Rousey Update
In related news, PWInsider is reporting Ronda Rousey was backstage at this week’s NXT tapings at Full Sail University.
