In Rakba Dulma Patti village, two sons of Sonwa Devi starved to death on September 14, the same month when the government celebrated September as National Nutrition month to mark India’s fight against malnutrition.

Another man named Virendra Musahar lost his 30-year-old wife, Sangeeta and six year old, Shyam who died due to the shortage of food on September 06. These deaths which are being reported to be due to hunger are getting unnoticed perhaps because the Mahadalit community is dependent on rats as their primary source of food.
