While speculation will immediately begin that Impact met with WWE to discuss selling the company, PWInsider noted a source claims the meeting was not about a potential sale.
One WWE source described the meeting as a general discussion regarding both companies, and to get both sides into one room as opposed to beginning negotiating any one particular point. After being purchased by Anthem Sports and Entertainment, Impact Wrestling has worked with WWE on a number of occasions, paying to license material from the Impact Wrestling library including The Broken Universe content which has been seen on WWE Network. Impact Wrestling declined to provide an official comment on this developing story.
On a related note, PWInsider added the backstage feeling at the most recent set of Impact Wrestling TV tapings in Mexico was that the locker room in the company has real team vibe to it, with Impact Wrestling officials covering all travel and expenses for the talents brought to the tapings. Even the talents who have guaranteed accommodations in their deals were willing to share rooms with other talents in order to keep costs low. Overall, the trip was described as a big “bonding experience” for all involved.
