WWE’s Tribute to the Troops returned to the USA Network on Thursday, December 20. The event took place at Fort Hood, Texas as WWE celebrated the 16th anniversary of the show.

The New Day came out first, followed by R-Truth and Carmella. The New Day cut a quick promo in the ring and thanked the troops in attendance, as well as the soldiers that could not be home for the holidays. The New Day ended the segment with a “USA” chant and Ronda Rousey was up next for a Triple Threat Tag Team Match.

Rousey teamed with Natalya and faced off against heated rivals The Riott Squad. Nia Jax and Tamina rounded out the contest and all three teams gave fans a solid match. The bout ended when Rousey tapped out both Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan in a double armbar.

After the win, Ronda took few moments and spoke to the audience. She thanked them for the service and called them the “true champions.”

A video package featuring Jon Stewart was up next. Stewart and his son visited Fort Hood and spoke with several of the troops on an individual basis. Country music star Morgan Wallen then came out and performed a song for the audience.

Finn Bálor and Elias worked a tag team match against Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre. Drew and Bobby are the last remnants of former Raw General Manager Baron Corbin’s stable of heels that ran roughshod on Braun Strowman. Since then, McIntyre and Lashley have worked as singles stars once again.

This was a basic tag team match, with all four men taking their moments to shine. But the Scottish Psychopath and The Almighty were not enough to win the day.

Miz TV went down next and The Miz was joined by Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair. The two adversaries were questioned about their “unresolved problems.” Things got heated however when Flair and Lynch stood face-to-face in the ring and were then interrupted by Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville.

An impromptu tag team match was announced and the four women fought in the middle of the ring. Lynch and Flair wanted nothing to do with tagging together but they did pick up the win in this match.

Jon Stewart was up next and did a few minutes of stand-up in the ring. He spoke about the crazy weather in Texas, as well as his recent visit to the troops in Afghanistan. He was followed by Morgan Wallen, who performed another song for the crowd.

The main event came next as stars from Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live collided in the ring. This match featured AJ Styles and Seth Rollins against Daniel Bryan and Dean Ambrose. All four men have battled each other over the past few years on both brands, so this booking was perhaps somewhat nostalgic for fans.

This match was hard fought from start to finish. Rollins and Styles brought the intensity from the very start and the chemistry between the quartet became very obvious, very quickly. The advantage shifted from one side to the other for the duration of the mach and when it was over, The Phenomenal One and The Kingslayer emerged victorious.

Styles and Rollins thanked the audience for their service and the WWE Superstars came back to the ring for pics with the soldiers.
